C8-C10 technologies contain a broad family of substances known as perfluorochemicals which are used to make some of the world's most famous brand names, including some products from 3M and Dupont.

Perfluorochemicals have a molecular structure that prevents them from mixing well with water or oil, which is why they are used in making non-stick and stain-resistant coatings present in popular consumer items such as waterproof spray, food packaging, clothing and upholstery to name a few.

The two main perflurochemicals are perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanyl sulfonate (PFOS). Both are highly toxic and have been linked to causing cancer, liver damage and for acting as an immune system toxicant. Numerous studies have shown that PFOA alters reproductive hormones in the male, causing increased levels of estrogen and abnormal testosterone regulation. To make matters worse, PFOS and PFOA seem to be virtually indestructible and have an extreme affinity to stick to living things.

toxic

Despite its dangerous status PFOA and PFOS are common chemicals in many products that we use on a daily basis. It is expected that by 2015 the European Union will begin implementing a staged progression toward complete banning of all PFOA and PFOS technologies throughout the European Union. Unfortunately the majority of people remain unaware of the health hazards and environmental issues caused by such chemicals. Any delay of a firm timeline in dealing with those two dangerous chemicals will be a big oversight for the rest of the global community.

At Nanex, we conform to globally accepted health standards. Dangerous substances are always excluded from our production cycle. When it comes to our products, we use C6 modern fluorochemicals that are completely free of PFOS and PFOA. Our goal is for our consumers to profit from a product which is state-of-the-art and ecologically safe. We take pride that our product is currently deemed as the most ecofriendly and least toxic technology on the market.
